Mobile archive shelving

Rail-mounted mobile units

With cabinet units moving on rails, files, documents and archive materials can be stored in less space. Instead of permanently open aisles between fixed shelves, an aisle is opened only where access is needed, increasing the storage capacity of the existing archive area. Suitable for public institutions, hospitals, offices and businesses that keep large volumes of documents. Orderly filing and classification make it easier to find the documents you need.

Units are moved by hand, by hand-wheel (mechanical) or electrically. In the mechanical system a unit opens with a single handle; the locking mechanism prevents other units from moving while the open aisle is in use.

Rails are recessed into the floor or surface-mounted with ramp profiles. Unit depth is chosen between 300 and 600 mm according to file and box sizes.

Typical applications

  • Government and municipal archives
  • Hospital patient record archives
  • Bank and insurance document archives
  • Law offices and notaries
  • University and library stores
  • Museum and collection stores
